This is the second commission for this customer, I tried to match level of detail to the original.

I love painting these, the feathers around the face area real challenge, it is hard to not make it look like a painted line, almost there but think it could still use some work.

Horsing Painting, watercolor 22x16

I worked diligently on this watercolour horse for two days! Started with a big giant brush - 2 mins.. then the other 47 hours and 58 minutes were spent on the details. Tried to stay loose. The paint is all handmade, I made a new neutral tint that is really rich, this allows me to get the nice darks. I would like to have had a background on this but it is for a client who will be using it on a poster so I had to leave it white. I have this paint for sale for anyone interested, message...

A cadmium free ride to the cleaners..

My inbox was blessed with Winsor and Newton's latest paint release this morning, "Cadmium Free". I will be blunt and to the point, this is a marketing ploy to get you to buy more paint.. ok so that is not so bad. I mean that is what companies do to get you to buy their products - they market. What is wrong in this case? Cadmium pigments are not really the monsters they are made out to be. https://www.cadmium.org/cadmium-applications/cadmium-pigments Sure there are safer pigments out there but I bet you something with in a 10 meter radius of you...
