A pet portrait in oil is the surest way to immortalize your favourite companion. Oil painting as a medium is well documented as archival, most of the famous paintings by old masters were created in oil paint the same way I paint today. I make my own paint by hand, the same way it was made for hundreds of years before the introduction of modern paints which have a much smaller pigment load. I have been painting with oil for over 30 years, I love the richness and blending you can only achieve with oil paint. Certain pets with long, curly or white fur always look better in oil paint.
By default I paint on raised gallery panels that are ready to hang when complete. I can also paint on a flat canvas panel that is suitable for framing if you wish, just let me know when you place your order.
Oil paintings are more expensive than watercolour because the materials are more expensive and the time it takes to complete is considerably longer.
The best photo reference pictures are those that are straight on as much as possible with a clear view of the eyes. The picture does not need to be cropped close and it is fine to send more than one picture. Once you have placed your order you can email your pictures to email@example.com
